Fashion is you. Why are there so many makeover shows? We, as humans, love matching the goodness of some people’s hearts with the goodness of good fashion. As much as we try not to judge people by the cover, it’s said that people make first impressions within five seconds of seeing a person. So, why not always dress to impress?
Sometimes, after going to parties and events with the same people over and over again we tend to just let go, or at least I do. “Oh, it’s just going to be so and so? I’ll just put on some jeans and a t-shirt.” But who knows who so and so is going to bring! It could be Prince William. (Well, probably not, but he’s hoping.)
My point is, always dress to impress. And that is super important during the summer. Every event is important in the summer. Whether it’s just running to the store to grab cups for that BBQ or that birthday party you’ve been planning since March…every party is important. And every party has it’s personality. And you can usually tell what type of person you’re going to be around by what type of dress they’re wearing…or at least this is my experience. Here are a few examples.
The Hipster/Trendy One
She’s the one wearing the one shoulder asymmetrical dress. It’s not a bad thing! No! She’ll be fun to hang out with. She’ll be up on who wore what and who’s doing who in Hollywood. But watch out…next year there’s no predicting what she’ll be wearing.
If you’re that trendy girl you should check out this Nicole Miller Ruby Metallic Tucked One-Shoulder Dress. The dress is sparkly and super fun and is $368 from Bluefly.com.
The One Who Always Wears Black
She’s the one who is the rock in your group. To outsiders she may be kind of boring and bland. But to you and your close friends, she’s always grounded and roots you all.
That’s why she always wears the black dress. It’s kind of like the pants in the family. It fits her. And it always works. If you’re looking to stray from the normal black dress though, because it is the summer, Ms. Black try this Tibi Black Graphic Linen-Silk Ruffle Hem Dress, also from Bluefly.com for $239.
Little Miss Perfect
No matter what she wears it has to be perfect. It may be an expensive dress, it may be a cheap dress. From basic black to a pretty pink number, no matter the style, it’s perfect. And she’s perfect. In her eyes, at least.
She has a bit of Ms. Trendy in her, all eyes are on her at some times…but she knows when to listen as well. If you’re a Little Ms. Perfect, look at this DKNY Strapless Cotton Blend Dress from Net-A-Porter for $345. With its brilliant color and feminine silhouette, you’ll get the attention that you could possibly want. And the bow is sheer perfection! Add a pretty pair of pumps and a girly girl bag to finish off the look.

The Fun One
She’s the one putting together the parties, closing down the bar, and asking you what you’re doing that evening at 3pm while you’re on a conference call at work. You love her, but can probably only handle so much of her. If you were in college at some point, these were the party girls and the sorority girls.
Everyone had a bit if the Fun One in them at some time..but not all the time. You know what I mean? If you’re the fun one you should check out this Notte by Marchesa Strapless Silk Ruffle Dress for $750 from Net-A-Porter. Fun Fun Fun!
Of course, this is not definitive and final, there are more dress personalities then this….what types of dress personalities have you all seen?
