A Healing Spiritual Experience

Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend or a meaningful day. - His Holiness the Dalai Lama

I just returned from my first Tibetan healing massage session with Lama Lobsang Palden Rinpoche.  I was graced by good fortune to reserve the last remaining appointment while the lama is in Leelanau County for his annual Medicine Buddha Healing Retreat.

My session felt like a rare gift of peace and healing. I am in awe of the lama’s kindness, powerful energy, compassion, and strength. I highly recommend experiencing authentic holistic bodywork in a Tibetan Healing Massage Ceremony with Lama Lobsang Palden.

Lama Lobsang brings his unique experience as a Tibetan lama to his bodywork, incorporating years of Dharma practice in his sessions. He works on a deep, spiritual level, utilizing ancient healing sounds such as Tibetan singing bowls, cymbals, and sacred mantra. His naturally intuitive style includes energy work for emotional and spiritual healing.

I am grateful for another meaningful day…

More about Lama Lobsang Palden

Lama Lobsang Palden was trained as a lama in the Gelugpa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in Tibet, he entered a monastery as a boy after his recognition as a Nyingma tulku, or reincarnated lama of the Nyingma school. At age 18 he escaped Tibet, which was under military occupation by the People’s Republic of China. He made an arduous three-month journey across the Himalayas, fulfilling his dream of meeting His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

He lived in monasteries in India for over a decade, studying Buddhist Dharma and Tibetan Medicine. He studied Tibetan Yantra Yoga in Tibet. He has traveled extensively, teaching and practicing the precious Dharma. To learn more about Lama’s journey, click here to read “Midnight Fire Puja in the Snow.”

The Search For a Soul Mate

The Search For a Soul Mate

In the movies, especially in romantic comedies, the concept of the Soul Mate is never a thing that grows old. The idea that there is one person out there in the world, out of millions of others, who is meant to be with you, who will make your life complete, is not only appealing but can become a lifelong obsession for anyone.

As you go through life, you become disillusioned sometimes. The concept of destiny and ever after becomes stuff that exists only in the imagination and in the unreal world. Such a realization is not unfounded. However, it does not mean that happiness, in itself and with someone who may not be perfect but is suitable, cannot exist. A Soul Mate is someone that only a few people get to meet.

Sometimes, it is a concept that these very people apply to their partner just because they were able to work out their relationship in such a way that they think that they were destined to be together. In reality, they may be just those lucky couples who get to understand and relate with each other in the way that other people can’t. It has often been said that love alone is not enough. It is sometimes also a question of temperament and compatibility. It is a question of the strength of the bond created by love, compassion, and respect. You don’t find a Soul Mate because he or she exactly looks like the person you have created in your head. Physical attraction can only last for as long as the person still have those attributes, which we have to admit will fade through time.

Reinventing Yourself Can Be a Manic Ride

Reinventing Yourself Can Be a Manic Ride

I have been reinventing myself for the past few years and love where my new life is headed.

Coaching, writing and yoga have become my way.

Learning to honor my natural rhythm, explore new interests and inspire others is hugely rewarding.

Yet …  Even though I’m immersed in a calling chock full of  inspiration, contribution and compassion, there are still days when I am overcome by fear.

The Super Shann days are incredible and then there are the days … I feel so very small.

Today is one of those days.

Check out the words I use to describe the manic ride.

Manic

One day
I rode a manic roller-coaster

Twisting and turning

Rising and falling

Crashing through

Frustration
Patience
Hunger
Happiness
Aggression
Love

I prayed for the ride to stop

Yet somehow got off on
The thrill of being out of control

Ripping on the way things are
Gaining in my disgust

One day
I rode a manic rollercoaster

Gaining momentum

Careening toward the ground

Hands in the air

Tangled thoughts

Screaming

Begging to crawl out of my skin

Then …

Inner calm

Understanding

Basking in peace

An endless appetite for life
Contemplating how much is enough

True joy
Appreciating natural riches

Kindness and selflessness

Always wanting more Love …

#

Today I will experience the funk and get back to creation by following these easy steps:

  1. Let your emotions fly!  Have good cry or scream at the top of your lungs. (You might use a pillow to muffle your voice if you can’t  roar without scaring the hell out of someone)
  2. Talk to a trusted friend about where you are at and how you are feeling.
  3. Take a walk and let nature calm your state of being.
  4. Remember what it feels  like to be on top of the world.
  5. Create a list of what is going well in your life and business. Then inspect one area where you can improve.
  6. Be kind and gentle with yourself. On days like these, there is no room for negative self talk.

Thankfully, it’s time to have a meal with a good friend and then I plan to take that walk.
