Tory Burch Truck Show at Neiman’s

Tory Burch has to be one of my favorite designers. The colors, the designs, the colors, I love them all. That’s why, when I found out that Neiman Marcus is having a Truck Show for her Fall stuff, I jumped at the chance to look at all the fabulously stuff. These were a few of my favorite items from the Fall line, take a look.

Neiman Marcus

Neiman Marcus

Jaden Small Tote

I adore safari colors. These types of colors, like the cardinal red of this purse transition so well from Summer into Fall/Winter. This bag, of course, I am infatuated with as well. The Jaden Small Tote comes in the cardinal red, real khaki, or black cotton twill canvas. The handles are made of vegan leather for all you Green folks out there. It is $195.

Melrose Suede Booties

Surprise! Booties haven’t gone out of style this season. It sure looks like I may be buying some booties this fall. These Melrose Suede booties come in the black (as pictured) or a coconut white. Each color has a gold detail and a 4″ 1/2 inch heel. The toe is rounded so they may be a bit more comfy. They are $395.

Augustin Dress

Holy unstructured dress! I love you Tory, but the day that I wear one of your unstructured beautiful dresses will be the day I lose my hips, only weigh 90 pounds and am married to a millionaire. I am in love with them though! And this Augustin dress is no exception. Adding the belt in the middle gives me a tad more structure and the pattern pumps up the personality. The dress is $425.

Simone Cardigan

If I’m going to pick up anything from this Truck Show it’s going to be this Cardigan. I will wear a cardigan every day of the week in the Fall if I have different colors. This one is no exception. The bright pink is awesome! The grandpa cardigan has obviously transitioned to Fall 2009, and I am stoked! This cardigan is

My Piece of the Eluxury Good-Bye Pie

When stores close I’m always hesitant to buy clothes. What if they just don’t fit right? Am I able to return them? What if I cannot find a friend who wants them? That especially rings true with the retail closure of Eluxury.com.

ELuxury.com

So, to say good-bye to Eluxury.com I’m found this fancy purple Marc Jacobs Pear Resin Bangle Bracelet that’s marked down quite a bit to $210 that I’d be more then happy to invest in.  I know I won’t have to return it in fear that it won’t fit and the color is amazing. I love purple! Now, if only I could pay down my credit cards a bit so I could pay for it.

10 Ways to Be Summer Chic!

10 Ways to Be Summer Chic!

Summer is a different season for fashion. Rules do not apply. Wear a leather jacket it you want! I don’t care! I may question this look in 105 degree heat while I’m sweating my butt off, but fashion is it’s own world in the summer.

20090320_baf_i19_2004.jpg

However, if you are still struggling with ways to make yourself look totally chic this summer season, here are some great ways, courtesy of Net-A-Porter.com

1.  Cover Up!

You want to stay healthy during the summer right? Hats are a great way to stay healthy during the summer. Of course wear at least SPF 15 sunscreen at all times, but if you’re on your way to the beach with the family for the day grab a great hat.  Fedoras are making a comeback this season, and cowboy hats are always fun!

2. Accessorize With Sunglasses

They’re all over the place now. Whether you are running in to Forever 21 to get some disposable fun accessories that you’ll throw out after one outing, or you’re investing in some sunglasses for the long haul, sunglasses can be worn for more then eye protection. Remember when bangs made their comeback in 2007? I worn my sunglasses as a headband from March until September during that trend.  And I’m hoping to bring that trend back. Who’s with me?

adam-embelishhed-tank3. Wear a Snazzy Summer Top

The summer is all about being fun, so try something that you wouldn’t normally wear. Whether it’s a sleeveless shirt, a three quarter sleeve shirt, or even a different color, now is the time to experiment! (Adam Embelished Top $172.50)

4. Wear Some Bling

Always! Some people decide to dress down during this season, make-up is minimal and clothing is slim to none. But, that doesn’t mean you have to give up your earrings, necklaces, and rings, right? I say, the more the better! Wearing great jewelry during the summer will only draw attention to your flawless minimalist look.

5. Try Wearing Cropped Pants (Warning! This may only work for some of us!)

Cropped pants are fun. They’re a good compromise between shorts and jeans. And this season, they’re all over the place. But, warning, if you’re under 5′6 you may not want to wear them out in public.  Even if feel comfortable, they’re going to cut you off and make you look like an oompa loompa and we don’t want that. I only say this because I myself have been a victim.

emilio-pucci-fontana-print-gown6. Maximize Your Wardrobe

Umm, hello? Where have you been? Buy a maxi dress! Buy lots of them. Because they’re amazing. Whether it’s strapless, dressy, or casual, the maxi dress is on my top 3 list of things a fashionista must have this summer. However, the maxi dress is a lot like the cropped pant, if you don’t get the perfect dress and you are short, it will look like a fashion mess. So, consider reading up on proportions. (Emilio Pucci Fontana Gown -$1,860)

7.  Shorts Anyone?

Summer would not be summer without getting a new pair of shorts. Whether they are super short shorts, a la  Daisy Duke, or they are just some work appropriate walking shorts, to usher in the summer season you should pick some up!

oscar-de-la-renta-batik-wedges8. Try Some Wedges

I will always pick flats over any other shoe in my closet, but, I do have a couple pairs of wedge sandals in my closet. These are a great alternative to the heel during the summer; especially if you’re looking for height but will be on the beach. (Oscar De la Renta Batik Espadrille Wedges $197.50).

9.  Lighten and Brighten Up!

Get a bright bag! I cannot say it enough! Get a fun summer bag! This doesn’t mean buying a whole new style bag, though, just get one in the same style but another fun color!

miu-miu-geometric-silk-dress10. Raise Your Hemline!

Maxi dresses are great for some events, but if you’re going to be out in the sun and want a natural tan, what good will that long skirt do? Or if you’ve been working on that bikini bod and want to show it off what’s the point of covering it up? Get a short skirt and show off those hot legs and arms! There is no time like the present! (Miu Miu Geometric Print Silk Dress – $931)

These are just a few great summer tips. Hop on over to the Community at Splendicity and share your summer  tips and tricks, ranging from fashion to make-up! It’ll be a great time!

I Will Miss You Eluxury.com…

I Will Miss You Eluxury.com…

I usually jump for joy in the middle of the day when I receive an e-mail from eLuxury.com. However, the e-mail I got today just put a real damper on my otherwise upbeat and happy Monday groove.

Zuma Press

Zuma Press

In the middle of January LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, who owns Eluxury.com, announced that they would slowly move away from the bread and butter of the late 1990s and early 2000s, e-commerce, and move towards a destination for information on luxury fashion and living. According to WWD, their exact reason pointed to the evolution of the internet and LVMH’s desire to create a portale to all things luxurious:

Starting in mid 2009, eLuxury’s new mission will be to create an ‘e-window’ into the world of luxury, by serving as an information reference for luxury in fashion, art de vivre, leather goods, wines and spirits, watches and jewelry, gastronomy, cars, yachts and services. ..eLuxury intends to develop collaborations with the most prestigious names in the world of luxury media, as well as the main contributors of the luxury world.

Slowly but surely, things began to change. It was earlier in the Spring that Louis Vuitton pulled out my beloved boutique from the Eluxury.com website and went exclusively to Louis Vuitton.com. I guess I’ll have to rely on going to my neighborhood Neiman Marcus to covet the City Bag that is on my next wish list.

Well, changes are changes, and the internet is constantly evolving. And, to be honest, I had no earthly idea this was happening (shock!). So, today, getting this e-mail was almost heartbreaking.

Today, I read:

Prior to the online store closing, customers may shop eLUXURY’s collection of designer closeout apparel, shoes and accessories for him and her. Through June 26, customers can find women’s and men’s apparel, designer handbags, shoes and accessories from fashion’s favorite designer brands, like Alexander Wang, Hussein Chalayan, Michael Kors, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Thakoon, Zac Posen, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana and many more – all at up to 40 percent off.

So, if you’re a bargain luxury shopper, let’s go shopping! Or, if you aren’t, then let’s all just mourn the passing of another internet icon, Eluxury.com. I’ll miss your gaucky models, your awkward possess and your bad make-up. However, I am looking forward to the reading! Bring it on!

Full Press Release and for full WWD.

Nicole Miller Off The Shoulder Gown

Nicole Miller Off The Shoulder Gown

I guess my invitation to the Met Costume Gala was lost in the mail this year because celebrities and celebrity watchers alike, at this very moment, are gathering to support one of the best things in the whole world…fashion and history at one of the best places in the world, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

nicole-miller-off-the-shoulder-gownNow, if my invite ever did really come to this fabulous event one of the dresses I would for sure want to try  would be this Nicole Miller Off the Shoulder Gown. I love this muted almost grass green/olive color. It kind of has a Bollywood feel, but still screams Hollywood  (or NYC?) elegance.

The dress itself is made of moulton satin and streams down to the ground with soft side rouching. Oh, and catch this, you can hand wash it. It falls 44″ from the natural waist and is $620.

Top 5 Fashion Must Haves For Spring-Summer 2009

Top 5 Fashion Must Haves For Spring-Summer 2009

Recession or not, a girl needs decent clothes. What are the must haves this season every woman should own?

There are the very trendy clothes that may no longer be relevant next year. With the economy as it is, you might want to give those a pass.

Treat your wardrobe as an investment. What are the gorgeous pieces that can take you from this season through many Springs and Summers to come?

Dynasty style shoulder pads may be back but rather than buy one of the current heavily padded jackets or tops that would probably be out of fashion this year. If you must have that look, go dig up some old clothes that do have huge shoulder pads. Unpick them and remove them from these clothes and sew them into your existing jackets to get that look. Then when the fad is over, remove the shoulder pads.

Here’s what you should get instead.

1. Mini Dress
One hot trend that will never truly die out is the mini dress. You see that at every collection this year. Dresses are either minis that end mid thigh, or long gowns for the evening. A mini dress need not be slutty. Don’t bare cleavage and plenty of leg at the same time. Flaunt one, cover the other. This season, arms, legs and shoulders are the erogenous zones. What’s hot? Toga dresses that show off one shoulder, halter dresses and bustier tops that show off both shoulders or the asymmetrical dress. You know the new look where the dress has one long sleeve but the neckline slants down beneath the other arm to bare the other shoulder. These are the mini dresses to get this season, which you can still wear for many summers to come.

2. White Dress.
This is a summer staple. White looks great in the hot sun. A white dress makes a woman stand out beautifully, when surrounded by green grass and flowers in the park or the sand and sea at the beach. This season offers a myriad of white dresses, from mini dresses to long gowns. From girlish cotton dresses to the sexy mini dresses, to silky, floaty dresses that make you look ethereal. Pick one that suits your personality.

3. Strappy Shoes
High heel shoes make an amazing difference to the way a woman looks. This season strappy heels abound. Those with straps that wrap around the ankle are absolutely gorgeous. If heels aren’t for you, there are flats with straps that wrap around your ankle too. Consider getting those if you don’t want a Prada fall.

4. Silk Pants
Looks like the pajama pants trend isn’t going to die out. Silky pants are here to stay. Get yourself a pair of silk pants. These should drape your legs. Pick them in a neutral shade. Preferably in a color that matches a silk jacket so that you can wear them to work as well as for play. Silk pants in neutrals like gray, black, nude or white, this season’s colors, go with everything and you can wear them year after year.

5. Halters
Halter tops and halter dresses are the big thing this season. These are seen everywhere. The halter could be with cut in shoulders, fully covered behind, with a bare back or cross straps behind. Either way, show off your arms and shoulders this season by wearing halters. (Get them toned if you must but flaunt them once you can). There are so many gorgeous halters this season so stock up on them because these are timeless.

New Hair Styles For 2009 – Keep One Step Ahead in the Fashion Game

As the years go by, it’s difficult to keep up with the times. Keeping ahead of the fashion game can sometimes feel like a downhill struggle, especially when we don’t get it right. Everyone’s had that embarrassing fashion mishap, at least once right? Let’s take a look at some of the new hair styles for 2009 and take one step forward – not two steps back.

It’s true, that you can keep all your old clothes and eventually – everything comes back into fashion. What old hairstyles will we see returning this year? 1940’s retro fashion is ‘in’ right now. Sophistication is what’s seen down the catwalks. Fabulous kinks and updo’s, these hairstyles are high maintenance.

Don’t have the patience for these high upkeep looks? Don’t threat, there’s always something that will suit you – it’s just finding it. On the other end of the sophistication scale, ‘bed head’ – fluffy curls, kinda of an unkempt look is very popular and fashionable.

What colors going to be hot this year? Red’s coming back – BIG, from strong copper tones to the deeper pink colors.

Side sweeps, blunt fringes, layers and the bob are becoming extremely popular – no huge changes here. Short short crops will be the look to keep an eye out for – predicted to make a massive comeback by the hair industry.

Still unsure on getting some fashion credibility? Pop down to your local hairdressers and ask for some advice, they understand the fashion game more than anyone. You don’t have to go for any big changes, having layers might just give you the edge you’ve been looking for.

Take a look at some of the free hairstyle galleries we have put together for you – download for free here

Grab the free reports were sending out at bodyranch.com – we’ll make sure you keep ahead of the fashion game.

Three Tips to Create a New Wardrobe Without Spending a Dime of Your Own Money

Three Tips to Create a New Wardrobe Without Spending a Dime of Your Own Money

If you check the newspapers, it seems that clothing sales were down during the past holiday season. Retailers are trying to figure out how to market new clothing, shoes and accessories without deep discounts. I say, ignore the retailers, at least for now, and create your own new wardrobe without spending a dime out of pocket.

Tip Number 1: Clean out your closet. This may seem not only a daunting task, but you may be saying so what? How does cleaning out my closet help me get a new wardrobe without spending a dime of my own money? Patience, patience.

Cleaning out your closet will not only provide you with new outfits, but also more money. Bear with me here. Clothes you choose not to wear have energy attached to them, energy of the past. So, let’s get moving!

Day One: remove all your shoes, purses, belts and scarves from your closets. Have two large plastic bags available. Check out each pair of shoes. If you like them, wear them often and they are in great shape, keep them. If you do not wear them and they are in great shape, put them in the Consignment bag. Place the other shoes in the Good Will bag. Keep great black, taupe and brown shoes; also keep great boots, both high (knee) and low (ankle) cut. Any doubts about a shoe, purse or belt, throw it out! Place in one bag or the other, but get rid of it.

If you are saving those 5-inch heels to wear to some special occasion, just to let you know, you will never wear them if you have to walk upright. Get rid of them. Note how you feel at the end of the day. Tired probably, maybe emotionally drained. Just notice what’s going on with you.

Day Two: You may need a friend to help you be a little wrathful. This is the day for tops – blouses, sweater, tanks, (not suits – keep them together) and anything else in your closet that you would wear above the waist. Follow the same procedure as in Day One, i.e., two plastic bags, one labeled Consignment, the other Good Will or any charity of your choice. If you have an Image For Success office nearby, contact them as well.

If the top does not fit, get rid of it right now. Stay in the moment with everything you try on. If it does not fit this minute, dump it. Let someone else enjoy it. If it looks like the 70s, 80s or 90s, get rid of it. If the style is not age appropriate, get rid of it. Remember, we only wear about twenty percent of our clothing anyway.

Whew! That was hard work and acknowledge yourself regarding this state of being. Don’t cry when you look at the bags and your closet. Remember, we have a goal in mind and that is to create a new wardrobe without spending a dime out of your pocket.

Day Three: A toughy. Time to try on anything below the waist – pants, jeans, skirts and any other article of clothing you have been wearing that passes for a skirt or pant. Maybe a sarong or two? You would be amazed at the type of fabric women pass off as clothing. If the pants are too short, too tight, too loose, have pockets, pleats or waistbands, get rid of them. If your skirts are too long, say over the calf, or too short, say above the knee, get rid of them. Remember to stay in the moment and keep what you would wear today, right now, out in the world.

Day Four: This is the day for coats, outerwear and suits. As stated prior, suits that do not fit, top and bottom, get rid of them. If the jacket is useful, keep what works and get rid of the other piece. As to coats and other outwear, try them on and make sure they fit. Body’s change and what fit last year may not fit this year. Remember, dress in the moment.

You are probably, or should be, very tired right now. But wait! Now we are onto the creative part.

Of the remaining keepers in your closet, place everything on your bed, tops and bottoms for now. Look at shapes, colors, styles and mix and match to create new outfits with a good friend by your side to help you. You will be surprised at how that old thing from the back of the closet that fits you so well looks on you now. Try on new outfits complete with shoes to see what you will now be wearing. At no financial cost, you now have a new wardrobe. If you want to deal with your emotions regarding this process, keep a journal.

Tip Number Two: Time to make money. Take the Consignment bags to the best store that is in alignment with your style. Research may be involved here. I recently moved to a new location and went through two stores before I discovered the one that worked best with my clothes and the owner was willing to work with me on prices. The basis of consignment is that you bring in a gently used article of clothing, tell the owner what you paid for it and they will sell it from 30-50 per cent of original retail; maybe less, maybe more. It depends on the market, time of year and the store’s owner. If an item does not sell within thirty days, the owner may reduce the item by fifty per cent. By the way, those Good Will bags? Take them, get a receipt and you can claim them as a deduction on your income tax returns. Talk to your accountant about this. Money and resources everywhere.

So what’s in it for you? You get about 40-50 percent of the final sales price. You now have cash in your pocket. If you choose to add items to your wardrobe, purchase them at this same consignment shop! No out of pocket expenses in buying retail ever again. Another word; every type of person brings in their clothes to sell on consignment. How do you think the rich get rich? By paying retail? Please.

Tip Number Three: Find that dramatic, bold piece. We have yet to touch on your jewelry. First, go through it and find some super piece that you love, is maybe a little dramatic, and you would wear everyday. Choose this and start doing it now. If you do not have single piece of jewelry that inspires you, use this same consignment money to purchase it at the store. Wearing the same thing everyday is not bad thing. When I saw the Sex and the City Movie, Sara Jessica Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw, wore the same belt with over five different outfits of varying styles. It worked for her and it will work for you.

For now, ignore the high retail prices, throwaway clothing and ugly, dated styles in the store. Find your own new wardrobe right in your own closet and make money, buy new-to-you apparel without spending a dime of your own money.

Joanne Victoria will help you Shop Your Closet to eliminate clothes that don’t work for you as well as the emotions attached to not only the clothes, but the reason you keep them. Joanne has over 20 years experience helping women be their best, in business and in their personal life. Image is a part of this discovery process.
