A funny thing happened walking through the isles of a big box discount retailer this weekend.
Watching people is a seriously intriguing hobby. An amusement park brimming with outrageous attractions is available at any shopping mall, grocery store or boardwalk.
This day was different, this day …
My fellow shoppers seemed to be shopping in a stinking bubble of negative madness.
Seconds after entering the building, WHO CARES assaulted my senses from the back of a woman’s sweat pants.
You know the kind – they usually state “Princess” or “Juicy” or some such nonsense.
This woman’s particular brand of posterior communication was …
“Who Cares?” plastered on her back side for all the world to see.
The sorry reflection of this irreverent mantra hit me like an out of control -
SCOOTER!?
What?
Imagine being surrounded by a sea of people who exemplify the Who Cares motto.
Begin to picture the scene …
A circus of curled upper lip unbridled disdain.
The “I’m too huge to walk” scooter gang is completely oblivious to the anyone trying to make way past them to get to the dryer sheets.
Several more people wearing pajamas have just rolled out of bed in the middle of the day for some retail stimulation.
Parents are bitching at their bored and cranky children for misbehaving and pods of people are in dialogue about the sorry state of the economy and their particular brand of arm chair politics.
Then there was the woman who decided to invade my personal space by breathing on me. Seriously, I could feel her breath on my back in the check out line.
The women in the check out line would not smile or even think about polite conversation. She may have been a cylon for all I know.
There was nowhere to run.
This commentary is harsh and may seem quite out of character for a personal coach, unconventional woman and yoga teacher. Yet, this honest observation, of a day in the life of the WHO CARES tribe of people in our country … needed to written. If you are offended by my truth, they won’t care.
Ask yourself this question.
How could they just give up?
When did “Who Cares?” creep into their lives?
When did it become common practice to bump around in unconsciousness?
Our lives are so precious. Yet an entire segment of our population is sleeping at the wheel.
If you find you or anybody you know ready to go out an buy a pair of WHO CARES sweat pants, please read the following list of Reasons To Care. I welcome the addition of more items as well as any discussion on this topic.
