Are you interested or are you committed?

My son is very interested in playing golf.  He plays regularly, even in the winter when others are setting at home in the warmth.  He has a great game, plays daily, and spends time practicing.  He loves the game and has a keen interest in becoming better.

On the other hand, there is Tiger Woods.  Tiger is committed to playing golf.  He spends money and time to improve his game every single day.  He strives to learn something new to improve his game.  He knows that he is one of the best in the world and he knows that he can always learn more.  He has coaches that hold him accountable while he spends time and money improving his game.  That is commitment.

So are you interested in growing your business by referral, or are you committed?

Common traits of those committed to a business by referral:

  • They regularly take the time to learn more about referrals
  • They practice what they learn
  • They have accountability coaches or partners
  • They implement systems in their business
  • They never make the assumption that they already know
  • They seek others who are working to do the same

Experts are committed to what they are doing, while amateurs are merely interested. Which are you?

Home Improvement – Best Left to Professionals

Many people have been there. A household project or chore has gotten way out of hand as we tried to save some money and did the project without professional assistance. Professional work, of course, is almost always going to leave the project looking much better than any amateur or homeowner could leave it.

So why do we still do our home improvement projects ourselves? Professional help with complicated and complex projects often save us time and money, so it is a mystery why more homeowners do not take advantage of their services. With their training and expertise in their respective fields, contractors will be able to provide excellent workmanship, and in some cases assist the homeowner with the planning of the project. Home improvement does not have to be a negative, frustrating experience. Hiring a contractor will be a huge stress reducer to homeowners overwhelmed by the projects.

When remodeling, contractors come in extra handy. With so many projects, homeowners may begin to feel the burden of the entire remodel on their shoulders. Finding help with the more complicated and difficult home improvement projects allows homeowners to focus their own attention on smaller, more manageable projects that may not require the assistance of professionals. This will ensure that things move forward and are done in an efficient and effective manner. Being able to walk away from a project with little stress is a rewarding experience. Satisfaction with a job well-done will always make these projects and remodels positive experiences that the homeowner truly enjoys.

Look Your Best – Utilize the Services of an Image Consultant

If you find yourself standing in your closet saying, “I don’t have a thing to wear,” it may be due to the fact that you are not purchasing clothing that complements your body shape or your style and is not representative of your life’s goals and dreams. By working with an image consultant, you can save a lot of time and money by learning which styles, colors and lines best enhance your specific figure type and accentuate your attributes so that you look fabulous. Review these six reasons and you will see how wonderful and easy it is to utilize the services of an image consultant to bring out your best features and increase your self-confidence, creating that image that you always dreamed of in your mind. Review these six reasons and you will see how wonderful and easy it is to utilize the services of an image consultant to bring out your best features and increase your self-confidence, creating that image that you always dreamed of in your mind.

•Dress to convey your life’s goals and dreams

Whether you have goals in your personal life or your professional life, working with an image consultant is different from working with a sales person. A sales person will sell whatever clothes are in season and a consultant’s job is to determine what you want out of life and then create a visual impression that conveys that message to the world.

•Understanding your signature style

It’s important to know your primary and secondary style. This will allow you to feel authentic and comfortable in your clothes. There are seven styles and everyone uses several to express him or herself uniquely. However, everyone has one primary style that is more business appropriate. Whether you are a male or female, it is important to creatively add some distinguished touches to your outfits so that you fully express your style.

•Wear clothes to flatter your figure type

Men and women have very different body silhouettes and within each gender there are numerous shapes. Everyone should dress to flatter his or her specific body architecture. An image consultant can share with you secrets to enhance your natural attributes, as they are trained to understand how to dress an individual for their proportion, balance and harmony.

•Closet and wardrobe management

An image consultant can quickly and expertly review your closet and determine if your wardrobe fits your lifestyle, see if it expresses the image you wish to present to the world, and recommend any new seasonal items you need to update your wardrobe.

•Build wardrobe capsules to create more mix & match

Most people tend to purchase individual outfits. In the image and fashion industry we like to teach people to purchase wardrobe capsules where they can get more versatility from their pieces and save money. A professional image consultant can teach you how to incorporate color, fabrics, styles and accessories to create 20 outfits from 8-10 items. When you mix the items in creative and unique ways, no one knows you are wearing the same piece you wore earlier in the week.

•Colors that enhance your personal coloring

Image consultants are trained in the art of color analysis. They will determine if you are warm, cool or neutral in your natural coloring and the amount of color contrast in your hair, eyes and skin tone. Knowing your best colors will eliminate purchasing items that you never wear due to feeling like you don’t look your best in them. I hope that you will think about saving time and money by using an image consultant. Most clients learn so much; they wish they had invested in themselves sooner.

Back To School and the Agony of Paperwork

Back To School and the Agony of Paperwork

Whether you send your kids off to public or private school or you home school or are on year around school this is a good time of year to get the little and big ones ready for the school year.

Before you head out to the stores and grab up the great buys they are offering this time of year take stock of what you have at home. Check to see how many supplies you have. If you haven’t designated a place in your home for paper/office supplies, do so now. This will save you a lot of time and money. Label the shelves, use containers to separate items.

Create a filing system where they can put their art work or home work they want to keep ‘forever’. Right now is the time to set ground rules on how many pieces of paper they will be allowed to save. Three pieces of paper a week will add up to 864 pieces pre-school through sixth grade.

Set up a designated place to manage everyday paperwork. Make this accessible for them and for you. Have baskets or sorting bins (metal kind that sit on a desk or the kind that hang on the wall) labeled with each child’s name on them and one for the parents.

Teach them the expectation is that when they come home from school they will unload their backpack and place their papers in their designated spot. If there is something that has to be signed by you and returned to school this goes in your slot. But don’t just rely on them putting it in the right place, check their slots also.

You could separate your slot into more specific slots such as To Do, To Pay (picture day forms, field trip fees etc) and To File.

Teach your children now that not every piece of paper that comes home has to be kept. You will be doing them a big favor.

What have you done to keep your child’s paperwork under control?
